Overland Track

Camping is also available along the Overland Track, and it is a much more excellent experience than staying in a hut. However, you should ensure a tent or other suitable camping equipment.

Ausable Chasm

You can hike to Ausable Chasm if you want to take in some of the area’s most amazing views. The Ausable Chasm trail offers various hikes that take you down into the chasm. This hike is not overly challenging, but it does have some steep sections. In winter, the campground near the depth is an excellent place to camp.

Muliwai Trail

If you’re looking for a challenging hike, try the Muliwai Trail, often referred to as the “Z-Trail” because of its steep switchbacks. The walk is well worth the effort, as it provides breathtaking views and a glimpse of Hi’ilawe Falls. The trail begins at the base of the cliff on the opposite side of Waipio Valley, where you can find a shaded path to a dual trailhead.
